We’re excited to introduce the Apex Technology Youth Mountain Bike Race, a brand-new mountain bike event for young riders ages 9–17, debuting at Lime Rock Park as part of the 2025 Lime Rock Park Epic.
Held entirely on the infield of the famous Lime Rock Park raceway, this unique event features a multi-surface, lap-based course that combines three types of terrain: paved road segments, grassy cyclocross-style loops, and wide, beginner-friendly double-track mountain bike trail. The course is designed to be fast, fun, and spectator-friendly — perfect for both new and experienced junior riders.
Format & Categories
Riders will compete in two-year age groups and select from one of three ability levels — Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert — based on their racing experience. All categories will start in waves based on lap count, with Experts off first, followed by Intermediates 30 seconds later, and then Beginners.
- Beginners: 2 laps (ideal for riders new to racing)
- Intermediates: 3 laps (for those with 1–2 seasons of experience)
- Experts: 5 laps (for experienced racers)
All groups race together on course, but are scored separately by age, gender, and ability level. Race duration will range from approximately 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the group.
The top 3 finishers in each category will be recognized during an awards ceremony and receive premium swag and merchandise—no licenses or USA Cycling points required.
Race Day Experience & the Course
The youth MTB race is scheduled for 11:15 AM, after the main gravel fondo riders depart the venue. Before the youth race, family and friends are invited to take part in the Speedway 5K Run/Walk, also held on site and benefiting the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
Thanks to the addition of new bridges over White Hollow Brook, the infield is now connected to over 600 acres of surrounding forest. Organizers have already begun developing a trail system starting with a scenic backbone dubbed “Rattlesnake Ridge” — and this youth MTB race is the first step in activating that terrain for the next generation of riders.

Join the Fun on October 12
This youth mountain bike race is part of a full day of cycling and running at Lime Rock Park. Alongside the MTB event, the venue will also host the Lime Rock Park Epic pb Specialized gravel cycling fondo and the Speedway 5K Run/Walk — making Sunday, October 12 a festival of fall endurance sports in one of New England’s most iconic settings.
